Proclinical is partnered with a well-established international organisation operating within a highly regulated sector is looking to appoint a senior leader to oversee market development activities, commercial planning, stakeholder relationships, and business performance initiatives across several European territories.

This appointment will focus on identifying opportunities for expansion, strengthening market presence, improving adoption of the organisation's solutions, and supporting long-term commercial success. The successful individual will work closely with leadership teams, external partners, and internal specialist functions to ensure business priorities are effectively executed within the marketplace.

The position carries responsibility for guiding market-facing activities, overseeing portfolio initiatives, supporting external partnerships, and leading teams that contribute to customer acquisition, retention, and overall business performance.

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping future direction, supporting revenue objectives, improving market visibility, and ensuring alignment between commercial activities and wider organisational priorities.

Responsibilities:

Business Planning & Market Development

• Establish and deliver market expansion plans for assigned territories.
• Assess emerging opportunities and recommend areas for investment and development.
• Monitor industry developments and competitor activity to support informed decision-making.
• Identify barriers to market adoption and implement improvement initiatives.
• Support revenue generation activities through strategic planning and execution.
• Contribute to forecasting, budgeting, and resource allocation processes.
• Evaluate business results and recommend corrective or enhancement actions where required.

Portfolio & Programme Management

• Lead initiatives aimed at strengthening market uptake of existing and newly introduced offerings.
• Develop positioning approaches tailored to customer and market requirements.
• Support the successful implementation of portfolio-related projects and programmes.
• Ensure product and service offering strategies remain aligned with commercial priorities.
• Direct promotional and awareness-building activities through industry events, educational forums, digital channels, and professional networks.
• Assess portfolio effectiveness and recommend enhancement opportunities.

External Relations & Market Influence

• Establish productive relationships with influential industry contacts and professional stakeholders.
• Support collaboration activities with external organisations, associations, and expert groups.
• Facilitate professional engagement forums and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Gather market feedback and use insights to support business decisions.
• Promote programmes that strengthen awareness, utilisation, and long-term customer relationships.
• Identify partnership opportunities that support organisational objectives.

Leadership & Capability Building

• Provide direction and support to multifunctional teams.
• Create a culture focused on performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Develop team capability through coaching, mentoring, and structured development activities.
• Set performance expectations and monitor progress against agreed objectives.
• Support succession planning and workforce development initiatives.
• Encourage collaboration across departments and business functions.

Performance & Operational Effectiveness

• Review operational and commercial metrics to evaluate performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability, and execution.
• Deliver recommendations supported by market intelligence and business data.
• Partner with colleagues from finance, operations, quality, technical, compliance, and other support functions.
• Participate in international projects and corporate initiatives where required.
• Ensure activities are delivered in accordance with organisational standards and business requirements.

Key Skills and Requirements:

• Degree educated in Business, Science, Healthcare, Marketing, or a related discipline.
• Experience within a regulated commercial environment such as healthcare, diagnostics, medical technology, laboratory services, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, or a comparable sector.
• Demonstrated success in leading business development or market expansion activities.
• Experience introducing new offerings to market and driving adoption within complex customer environments.
• Strong leadership experience with responsibility for developing and managing teams.
• Proven ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders and external partners.
• Commercially astute with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience interpreting market trends and performance indicators to support decision-making.
• Excellent communication, influencing, and presentation skills.
• Fluent German and English language skills.
