CEO Office Associate

WHO WE ARE

Proxima Fusion is Europe’s fastest-growing fusion company and the continent’s best-funded fusion player, as well as the first spin-out from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP). Backed by over €650M and powered by a growing team across Munich, Zurich, and Oxford, we are developing the hardware and infrastructure needed to deliver the world’s first commercial stellarator fusion power plant.

Our concept advances the most mature fusion technology out there, the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator, through two next-generation machines: Alpha and Stellaris. Our work combines stellarator optimization, advanced computation, machine learning, and high-temperature superconducting magnets to unlock higher-performance designs that were previously out of reach.

Turning these designs into a functioning fusion power plant requires excellence and ownership across every discipline, from physics and engineering to software, manufacturing, law, and business functions.

WHY JOIN PROXIMA FUSION

• You will get to work on some of the most complex tech challenges to bring abundant, safe, clean energy to the world.
• You'll get to join and learn from an exceptional selection of accomplished and driven individuals.
• Do your life’s best work and enjoy the journey.

YOUR IMPACT

You’ll work closely with the Chief of Staff, the CEO and his Personal Assistant to keep the CEO Office running at neck-breaking speed.

You’ll own the delivery of critical projects and materials that support company strategy and Proxima’s external representation. You’ll also help us work through practical strategic questions: where should the CEO spend time, what information does the leadership team need, and how do we keep people informed and connected as Proxima grows across multiple locations.

This role combines project delivery, strategic thinking and a natural drive for efficiency. You will operate at the heart of Proxima’s leadership, with a front row seat at scaling Europe’s leading fusion company.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Own critical projects from preparation through delivery. Clarify objectives, coordinate contributors, manage timelines and deliver work that meets a high bar for quality.
• Prepare materials for important decisions and engagements. Develop presentations, briefings and supporting materials for leadership, board, investor and partner meetings, drawing on input from across the company.
• Help focus the CEO’s time and attention. Work with the Chief of Staff and Personal Assistant to translate company priorities into purposeful meetings, engagements and preparation. Help assess what needs the CEO’s involvement and where others should take ownership.
• Improve how information flows across Proxima. Keep the CEO and leadership team well informed. Help shape how we share priorities, decisions and progress across teams and locations. Build communication routines that keep people connected as the company grows.
• Take on special projects wherever they matter most. Pick up high-priority work that needs an owner, whether it sits within the CEO Office or across technical and business teams. Get up to speed, bring the right people together, and see it through before moving to the next priority.
• Find and fix inefficiencies. Spot repetitive work, unnecessary steps and gaps in coordination. Leverage any combination of AI, digital tools and straightforward processes to save time and improve quality.
• Build systems that scale. Create useful templates, trackers and shared ways of working that others can easily adopt and maintain.

WHO YOU ARE

• You’re early in your career, with a proven track-record and drive to learn fast. You’re curious, seek challenges and feedback and are eager to take on responsibility.
• You deliver excellent project management work. You manage multiple priorities, care about detail and see projects through.
• You take initiative. You bring structure to open-ended problems, use sound judgement and know when to involve others.
• You enjoy making things work better. You spot inefficiencies and use practical processes, AI and digital tools to improve how work gets done.
• You work well with people. You build relationships across teams, communicate clearly and handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Nice to have:
• Experience in project management, business operations, or consulting.
• An interest in deep tech, energy or industrial development.
• A deep commitment to contribute to European leadership and sovereignty.

At Proxima Fusion, our mission is bold: making limitless clean energy a reality. To get there, we need a high-performing, diverse team that brings different perspectives, challenges assumptions, and builds together with purpose. We know that diversity of thought and experience leads to better ideas, stronger execution, and a more resilient team. We don’t look at how you identify, what you look like, who you choose to worship or what ethnicity you are. We care about what you can bring to the table.
