Product Engineer / Builder

WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS

Manufacturing is Europe’s backbone, and it’s under pressure. More than half of manufacturing cost is decided in procurement, yet the function still runs on Excel.

Tacto is building the intelligence layer between bits and atoms, connecting the digital world of engineering with the physical world of manufacturing. It’s how AI gets into the real economy.

More than 300 industrial companies already run on Tacto. We’re the category leader in DACH, backed by Sequoia and Index, and we’re just getting started.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Find the problems worth solving, then solve them end to end. Talk to customers, build across the whole stack, and ship to production. Turn what AI can do today into features that procurement and engineering teams use every day. You’re done when it drives revenue, not when it’s merged. Don’t wait for a PRD.

WHAT WE MEAN BY BUILDER

Because of AI, we only hire Builders. No specialized roles.

A Builder takes a messy, unclear problem and owns it from start to finish. That goes for business problems, not just customer problems. You decide what’s worth doing, make the case for it, test the risky parts early, and see it through until it pays off. When something works, you share it so everyone gets better.

We care about outcomes, not code quality for its own sake. What makes this fun is the loop from idea to reality, and AI just made that loop 10x shorter. There’s no room here for “my job is to solve interesting technical problems.”

HOW WE BUILD - THE TACTO ENGINEER

Builder is the what. The Tacto Engineer is the how. It’s our engineering practice and the bar we hold each other to.

Wear the customer’s shoes. Ship fast, finish fully. Sweat the details. Get 1% better every week. No lone wolves. Use AI as leverage, not a crutch.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Hungry, creative, AI pilled engineers at every level of seniority who care more about the result than the craft.

• You have your own ideas and act on them, whether that’s something you started, a side project, or a feature nobody asked for that turned out to matter.
• You’ve shipped real production software in a modern product team. Experience with B2B SaaS or data products is a plus.
• You work in Cursor, Claude, Codex and agents every day, and you’ve built something with them that wouldn’t exist otherwise.
• You go deep in modern Python (FastAPI, async, SQL) or TypeScript/React/Next.js, and you’re happy to work anywhere in the stack.
• You’ve built AI features into a product, or you’re obsessively learning how.
• You want to be in a room full of people who are fired up about what they’re building.

STACK

Python, FastAPI, Postgres, and ClickHouse on the backend. React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind, and Storybook on the frontend. GitHub, Linear, and Figma for everything around it. For AI, whatever ships fastest.

HOW WE WORK

We’re in our Munich office four days a week, with 100+ people building together every day. We measure outcomes, not hours. Trust is high and feedback is direct.

Competitive salary and meaningful equity. 26 + 4 vacation days, Wellpass fitness membership, JobRad bike leasing, company pension plan, and a childcare (Kita) subsidy.

OUR BACKGROUND

Tacto is building the intelligence layer that connects AI to the physical world of manufacturing, starting with procurement. AI is transforming every industry, but it stops at the factory gate. The knowledge that holds manufacturing together - part costs, suppliers, materials - is scattered across systems and people. Over 50% of a product's cost originates from suppliers, making procurement the single largest cost lever in manufacturing and the missing connection between the digital and the physical world. Yet it still runs on Excel and legacy systems. We're changing that with our Procurement Intelligence Platform, trusted by hundreds of companies running billions of Euros of material.

Based in Munich, we are 100+ passionate builders who are in-office, with high expectations, fast growth, and a lot of fun. We are supported by >€50m from Sequoia, Index, and Europe's leading tech entrepreneurs and industry veterans.

WHY IT MATTERS

Manufacturing forms Europe's economic backbone, driving a fourth of Europe's GDP and providing over 30% of jobs. These hidden champions and global market leaders manufacture the physical world around us, from the machines that build our cities to the medical devices that save lives.

But the world is changing. The US dominates the digital world of bits. China is scaling the world of atoms, manufacturing at unprecedented speed and scale. Geopolitics are more uncertain than ever. Europe's strength lies in its deep industrial knowledge through generations of engineering. Manufacturing worldwide runs on European machines and software. But that heritage is only an advantage if we leverage it in the age of AI.

Tacto builds the AI that connects Atoms and Bits, empowering our Industrial Base to Stay Stronger and building a lighthouse for European tech.

WHAT WE OFFER

The people at Tacto are passionate about building the organization, growing themselves, and our product while having fun and being real. We have high expectations, great talent density, and a culture where your ambition, performance, and agency are what count - not where you come from or how big your ego is. You'll grow at the forefront of AI, have real ownership and impact, and be surrounded by the best people in their field who challenge you and make you better every day. That is demanding and rewarding, but that's where we thrive. Besides that you have:

• Money: Competitive salary & equity in the company with real upside, so you are invested in our success
• Workplace: A vibrant in-office culture (> 4 days/week) in a beautiful office in central Munich
• Development: A development budget and regular exposure to exceptional people, e.g., Lunch & Learns, peer mentoring, external speakers
• Time off: 26 + 4 vacation days per year (4 fixed “company rest days”) as well as regular off-sites and team events
• Health: Wellpass membership, of course, a fruit basket (!), and access to Jobrad, for your health
• Family & Social Security: Voluntary pension contribution, voluntary KITA subsidy for your children
