Game Artist - Monetization Focus (12-months contract)

Our Story

Founded in 2009, we’re one of the world’s leading game studios, and proud of our extremely international team, consisting of more than 50 different nations. We are part of Playtika and the global leader in the category of Hidden Object Games. With June’s Journey, we’re providing joy for millions of players around the world every day.

How we work

Our aim is to keep doing so for many more years, if not decades. In order to be able to do so, we’ve defined a distinct way of how we’re working at Wooga, so that all relevant aspects intertwine and have a positive impact on the game. No matter if you’re part of a game team or support the success of Wooga as part of a central team, all 250+ employees from around the world can make an impact. We’re proud of the environment we’ve built, and believe you’ll enjoy working with some of the best people in the industry.

Our drivers: Speed, Focus, Ownership, and Impact, guide our working style at Wooga and help us make a deliberate choice to focus on what is important to us, while working towards a shared goal.

These drivers shape how we work together and what we expect from ourselves and our leaders.

As a Mid-level Game Artist at Wooga, you will join the Content Creative team of June's Journey, Wooga's most successful title, and bring our features, events, and in-game offers to life for millions of players. Every campaign we run is a small piece of storytelling: a moment with June and her friends that invites players into a new event or feature. You will work closely with product marketing managers, monetization managers, UI artists, writers and the wider art team to turn briefs into striking in-game announcements that tell these stories at a glance.

Your canvas is the game's rich library of existing art - characters, isometric sets, hidden object scenes, key art - which you will recombine, repaint and compose into fresh, exciting campaigns. This is a role for someone who thinks like an illustrator, has a strong instinct for composition and moves at the pace of a live game.

Please note that this is a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Some of your responsibilities include:

• Creating in-game announcements and campaign visuals for new features, live events and sales offers, from brief to final asset.
• Telling the story of June and her friends in every campaign, so that announcements feel like a natural part of the game's world rather than an advertisement.
• Recombining, adapting and painting over existing art assets to build compelling compositions that communicate a clear message and a clear emotion.
• Applying strong composition, colour and visual hierarchy so that every announcement reads instantly and beautifully on mobile screens.
• Working with monetisation and product marketing to understand the goal of each campaign and translating it into the right visual and narrative treatment.
• Using AI-supported workflows as a natural part of your process to explore variations, speed up production and keep quality high.
• Maintaining consistency with the established art style and visual grammar of announcements, while bringing freshness and creativity within it.
• Reacting to late changes in offer composition quickly and accurately, ensuring every asset reflects what players will actually receive.
• Contributing to templates, documentation and process improvements for the Content Creative team.

About You

• You have a strong portfolio demonstrating illustration and composition skills, with a sense for character, mood and storytelling in a single image.
• You have solid digital painting skills and an advanced understanding of Photoshop, and can seamlessly blend existing assets with your own paintwork.
• You have a keen eye for composition, colour and visual hierarchy, and understand how to guide the viewer's attention.
• You enjoy working with narrative and can translate a story beat or a character moment into an appealing visual.
• You are open to and curious about AI tools, and willing to integrate them into your daily workflow as part of a modern production pipeline.
• You thrive in a fast-paced live-ops environment, can manage several small tasks in parallel and are comfortable with quick turnarounds.
• You have experience with and can effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide and receive feedback from colleagues.
• You embrace teamwork and can communicate both effectively and respectfully.

Please note: Research has shown that some under-represented groups in the gaming industry (eg: women) tend to apply only if they meet every single requirement. Here at Wooga, the desire to learn and the willingness to solve problems are more important to us than your experience on paper. We encourage you to apply even if you do not think that you tick all the boxes - thinking outside of such boxes and embracing the diversity of mindsets and backgrounds is what we believe makes our teams thrive.
