Germany urgently needs international talent. Yet complex and lengthy recognition processes prevent many qualified professionals from working in the jobs they trained for. At the same time, employers struggle to fill critical positions.
HeyGermany wants to change that. We are building the digital infrastructure to make professional recognition and work integration faster and easier. We are starting with nursing and plan to expand into other regulated professions. Our mission is to remove bureaucratic barriers and help international talent access jobs that match their qualifications.
We are looking for a hands-on, product-driven **Founding CTPO** with the ambition to build HeyGermany as a co-founder. You will take full ownership of both product and technology, from understanding customer problems and defining our product vision to building, launching and scaling the solutions.
You will work closely with the Founder & CEO to shape company strategy, identify growth opportunities and turn our vision into a product that users love and businesses are willing to pay for.
We already have a live MVP ([www.hey-germany.com](http://www.hey-germany.com)), an initial recognition engine and talent pool, 400+ talent pool conversions, our first enterprise pilot and secured public funding.
Your challenge is to turn this foundation into a scalable, user-centric platform that can take HeyGermany from one profession to many, while building the product and technology capabilities to support long-term growth.
- *What You’ll Do**
- **Own our product vision, strategy and roadmap**, translating customer needs, business goals and market insights into clear priorities and measurable outcomes.
- **Lead product discovery and development end-to-end**, from user research, problem validation and prototyping to technical implementation, launch and iteration.
- **Own our technology strategy and architecture**, building scalable systems for qualification recognition, document processing, workflow automation and talent matching.
- **Turn complex regulatory and bureaucratic processes into simple, intuitive digital experiences**, with a strong focus on usability, customer value and conversion.
- **Stay hands-on in building the product**, making key technical decisions across frontend, backend, APIs, data and cloud infrastructure while maintaining a high standard of product quality.
- **Identify and develop AI-powered product opportunities** where they create real value, particularly in document analysis, structured data extraction, intelligent matching and workflow automation.
- **Work directly with international professionals, employers and domain experts** to understand their needs, validate assumptions and continuously improve the product.
- **Define and track key product metrics**, using data, user feedback and experimentation to drive product decisions, engagement, conversion and business outcomes.
- **Build and lead our future product and engineering team**, establishing a strong culture of ownership, customer focus, speed and continuous learning.
- *What We’re Looking For**
- We care less about your current title than about what you have built, your product judgment and the level of ownership you are ready to take.
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering, product development or technical product leadership, with strong hands-on technical capabilities.
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- A proven track record of building and shipping digital products end-to-end, ideally in a founder, founding engineer, product-minded CTO, technical product lead or similar role.
- Strong product thinking, with the ability to identify real customer problems, validate solutions, prioritize effectively and balance user needs with business impact and technical feasibility.
- Strong experience with a modern web stack, ideally TypeScript, React/Next.js, backend development, APIs, databases and cloud infrastructure.
- Practical experience building with LLMs and modern AI systems, including RAG, agents and evaluations, and using AI effectively in product development and day-to-day work.
- Experience with product discovery, user research, UX principles, product analytics and iterative development. You know how to move from an initial hypothesis to a product that delivers measurable value.
- The ability to make pragmatic decisions across product and technology, balancing speed, user experience, quality and scalability in an early-stage environment.
- A strong understanding of how product decisions connect to business outcomes, including acquisition, activation, retention and monetization.
- A founder mindset and strong connection to our mission\*\*.\*\* You want real ownership, are comfortable with the ambiguity of a pre-seed company and care about building a successful business, not just great technology.
- Strong English communication skills are required. German is a plus.
- Experience with document intelligence/OCR, B2B SaaS, marketplaces, HR Tech, Global Mobility or regulated/GDPR-sensitive products is valuable, but not required.
- *What We Offer**
- €50,000–€65,000 annual base salary, with salary growth as the company scales, plus meaningful equity reflecting the founder-level ownership of the role.
- The opportunity to become a true co-founder, with long-term ownership of product and technology and meaningful participation in the company’s upside.
- Founder-level influence over product vision, technology and company strategy, with the freedom to shape what we build, how we build it and how we grow.
- The opportunity to build our product, technology architecture and future product and engineering organisation from the ground up.
- A live product, early traction, our first enterprise pilot and secured public funding. We are currently in conversations with investors for our next stage of growth.
- The opportunity to work on a problem with tangible social and economic impact: helping international professionals access jobs that match their qualifications while helping employers access talent they urgently need.
We believe professional opportunities should be determined by people’s skills, not by their ability to navigate bureaucracy.
If you want to build both the product and the technology behind a company from the ground up, take real ownership and help shape HeyGermany as a co-founder, we would love to hear from you.
Send us one product you've built that you're proud of, tell us what role you played in bringing it to life, and why this mission matters to you.
