Working Student/Intern Software Application Development (m/f/d)

About the role

We are looking for a Working Student or Intern in Software Application Development to join us on our mission to build the world's first autonomous factory for carbon fiber manufacturing, with the option to stay on full-time afterwards.

Are you itching to build things and see them used in real production the next day? Do you want to develop applications end to end, from the first idea to a working tool, instead of fixing tickets in a huge codebase? Are you looking to spend your time and motivation on making a difference in the climate emergency?

Then you will love Holy.

What you will do

• Be part of the team building HolyOS, our internal Factory Operating System, which is the foundation of our future autonomous factory.
• Build software applications end to end: understand what the users need, design a solution, build it, ship it and keep improving it.
• Work across the whole stack, from front end and user interface to back end, APIs and databases.
• Develop tools that connect our machines, sensors and production data with the people who work with them every day.
• Turn rough ideas into quick prototypes and turn the good ones into reliable software.
• Work closely with engineering, production and operations to integrate your applications into our daily workflows.
• Follow your intellectual curiosity and learn together with your co-workers.

What we are looking for

• You are enrolled as a student in computer science, business informatics, engineering or a related field.
• You love building things and have already built your own projects, at university or as a side project and not just tutorials.
• You have hands-on coding experience in Python.
• You have some experience with web frameworks and databases, for example React, FastAPI, Django or PostgreSQL. The exact tools are flexible; what matters most is that you want to learn and get things done.
• You are passionate about working on problems that have not been solved before and you appreciate an agile working environment.
• You like building projects from a blank page and taking ownership comes naturally to you.
• You like collaborating with others to develop our product and can communicate with non-software experts about software topics.
• You have an autonomous working attitude, you simply get started and you ask for help when you are stuck.
• You feel comfortable communicating in English in an international work environment
• PLUS: You have experience with cloud services such as AWS, GCP or Azure, Docker, or CI/CD.
• As a Working Student you can work 16 to 20 hours per week during the semester, ideally for at least 12 months. As an Intern you would work with us for 3-6 months. Both options can transition into a full-time position afterwards.

You do not tick all the boxes? We care more about your drive and what you have built than about a perfect CV. If you are keen to build things and add to our culture instead of just blending in, apply anyway.
