Software Engineer Internship for HPI Students

About the role

Banks and fintechs use Taktile to automate critical decisions, like credit, fraud, and compliance, in real time.

We're building the infrastructure that makes financial institutions truly AI-native, and we've partnered with the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), a leading computer science institute in Europe, to offer a dedicated opportunity designed only for HPI students.

Starting in April 2027, you'll join one of our engineering teams for 6 months in Berlin and ship real features, with experienced engineers mentoring you along the way. Several HPI alumni already work here, from early-career engineers to senior engineers leading major parts of our product.

This program is tailored for Computer Science students eager to gain hands-on industry experience while building the foundations for a world-class engineering career.

If you have strong engineering fundamentals and want to grow fast in a team where what you build reaches customers soon after you ship it, we'd love to hear from you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Depending on your final team, either work on backend components written in Python / FastAPI, hosted on an AWS serverless architecture, or work on React/Typescript front-end components, or a combination of both!
• Engage actively in team rituals such as daily syncs, planning sessions, demos, and technical deep-dive discussions.
• Grow as an individual and accelerate your career by learning from our experienced team, contributing to a foundational layer of the product, and joining cross-team learning groups.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Taktile is a hybrid company that requires working 3 days/week from our Berlin HQ in Germany.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential as we operate in a remote environment requiring clear and effective communication.
• Strong engineering fundamentals with a passion for simplicity and precision.
• Availability for a 6-month full-time internship.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Fantastic Computer Science fundamentals. Data structures, algorithms, networking, distributed systems, databases, and everything in between!

IDEAL, BUT NOT REQUIRED

• Exposure to AWS, especially Lambda.
• Experience with frontend development - React or similar frameworks.

OUR OFFER

• Work with colleagues who lift you up, challenge you, celebrate you, and help you grow. We come from many different backgrounds, but what we have in common is the desire to operate at the very top of our fields. If you are similarly capable, caring, and driven, you'll find yourself at home here.
• Experience a truly flat hierarchy and communicate directly with founding team members. Having an opinion and voicing your ideas is not only welcome but encouraged, especially when they challenge the status quo.
• Learn from experienced mentors and achieve tremendous personal and professional growth. Get to know and leverage our network of leading tech investors and advisors around the globe.
• Receive a MacBook Pro as well as cutting-edge hardware.

OUR STANCE

• We're eager to meet talented and driven candidates regardless of whether they tick all the boxes. We're looking for someone who will add to our culture, not just fit within it. We strongly encourage individuals from groups traditionally underestimated and underrepresented in tech to apply.
• We seek to actively recognize and combat racism, sexism, ableism, and ageism. We embrace and support all gender identities and expressions, and celebrate love in its many forms. We won't inquire about how you identify or if you've experienced discrimination, but if you want to tell your story, we are all ears.
