ABOUT THIS ROLE
We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join our Agentic SOC team. At Eye, we organise engineering around streams: mission-driven groups with a clear outcome to drive, not a product area or a section of the codebase. This team's mission is to build LLM-powered agents that augment our security analysts, taking on repetitive investigation and triage work so humans can focus on the judgment-heavy parts of the job.
You will work in a small, full-stack team of 2 to 3 engineers contributing to your stream's goal, working across whatever systems and layers are needed to deliver it. This is a role for someone who wants real ownership, not a queue of tickets, and who is excited about shipping agents into a real production SOC where correctness, latency, and cost all matter.
IN THIS ROLE
- Own features end-to-end as Feature Lead: scope the problem, coordinate work within your team, make day-to-day technical decisions, and ship it to production. You are trusted to take a high-level goal and turn it into a plan without close supervision.
- Lead the design and delivery of LLM agents that plug into our SOC workflows, including tool design, prompt and context engineering, evals, and guardrails. Make sound tradeoffs on accuracy, cost, latency, and how much autonomy to give the agent versus keeping a human in the loop.
- Drive technical design discussions in your stream and, where the work calls for it, influence architecture and standards beyond it. Set the bar for code quality, testing, and documentation on your team.
- Ground engineering decisions in outcomes. Push back when the "why" is unclear, propose simpler or faster paths to the business result, and stay close to the security analysts and customers your agents are meant to serve.
- Mentor engineers on your team and across the stream through pairing, code review, and design feedback. Act as a multiplier, not just a strong individual contributor.
- Participate in hiring: interview candidates, help shape the bar, and support onboarding.
- Contribute to a psychologically safe and outcome-oriented team culture. Lead by example in incidents and high-pressure moments.
- The role is remote in the Netherlands or in Berlin, with a commitment to travel to the office (The Hague or Berlin) twice per week.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- 5+ years of development experience, including meaningful full-stack exposure. You are comfortable working across backend and frontend layers and you pick up new technologies independently.
- Depth in at least one technical area and broad competence across the stack. You have designed and shipped systems where performance, security, reliability, and maintainability all mattered, and you can explain the tradeoffs you made.
- Experience with strongly typed languages (Typescript, Java, dotnet, PHP, or similar). We operate in Go and React, and we back ourselves to get a seasoned engineer with strongly typed experience up to speed in our stack quickly.
- Hands-on experience building LLM agents, with evidence they were useful. You have built and shipped at least one non-trivial LLM-powered agent or agentic workflow, in production or as a side project with real users. You can speak concretely about the design choices you made around tool use, context and state, evals, failure handling, autonomy, cost, and latency and, just as importantly, what the agent changed for the people using it.
- Comfortable using AI coding tools as part of your daily development workflow.
- A track record of raising the level of engineers around you through mentoring, code review, and design feedback.
- Strong communication skills. You can translate technical tradeoffs for engineers, product managers, and leadership, and you write designs and decisions in a way others can build on.
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and secure development principles to build safe, trusted systems.
- Fluency in English is a must.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Work on genuinely hard problems in a complex domain: XDR, security data at scale, and tooling that empowers security analysts to protect hundreds of customers across Europe.
- Real ownership in a small, autonomous team where every engineer is close to the work, close to the decision-making, and close to the impact.
- A deliberate bet on AI-augmented engineering and AI-augmented security operations: we are building toward small teams that punch well above their weight through smart AI adoption, and you will be part of shaping how that works in practice for both how we build and how our SOC operates.
- Be at the forefront of innovation, shaping the future of our technology infrastructure.
- Enjoy a competitive compensation package and comprehensive benefits.
- Join a young and thriving scale-up which is on its way to becoming the category leader in Europe.
- We are a great place to work, filled with people who enjoy working together.
ABOUT EYE SECURITY
Eye Security is an international scale-up providing cyber security with embedded cyber insurance to SMBs in Europe. Our cyber security innovations, state-of-the-art automation and platforms are being built and maintained by our Product and Engineering Teams. Our engineers and product managers collaborate closely with cyber security experts to ensure that their hacker's mindset is embedded into our platform.
Our platform is a proprietary Open XDR (eXtended Detection Response) system that brings in security data from several market leading cyber security products into our centralised repository. From here cyber security experts can work their magic. This makes sure that our hundreds of customers experience the same value via automated systems, allowing us to scale in Europe.
We are a rapidly growing company and believe in investing in our people. If you're a highly motivated and results-oriented engineer with a passion for building secure, scalable technologies, we encourage you to apply!
