Flight Control & State Estimation Engineer (m/f/d)

• Improve state estimation using Kalman filters, particle filters and other advanced estimation methods.
• Fuse IMU, radar, camera and ToF data into robust vehicle and target-state estimates.
• Increase the accuracy of velocity and position estimation in GPS-denied environments.
• Optimize sensor filtering, synchronization, outlier rejection and latency compensation.
• Develop and tune flight-control algorithms for maximum agility, precision and stability.
• Identify real flight dynamics from recorded data and use them to improve models, estimators and controllers.
• Improve sensor and vehicle models used in simulation, SIL and HIL environments.
• Profile and optimize flight-critical Rust code for deterministic execution and minimum latency.
• Analyze flight-test data, identify performance limits, and turn every flight into the next improvement.

What You Bring to the Team

You do not need to cover every discipline equally. We are looking for deep expertise in either state estimation or flight control, and the ability to understand their interaction as one complete system.

• Strong foundations in control theory, state estimation, sensor fusion or flight dynamics.
• Hands-on experience with Kalman filters, nonlinear estimation or probabilistic filtering.
• Experience designing and tuning controllers for highly dynamic systems.
• Strong implementation skills in Rust, C++ or another systems programming language.
• An understanding of real-time execution, numerical stability, sensor timing and latency.
• Experience with simulation, system identification, flight-log analysis or flight testing.
• The drive to challenge existing performance limits, test ideas quickly and keep iterating until the data proves the improvement.
