Platform Engineer (f/m/d)

Job description

Who We Are

Spread Group is a renowned global provider of customized apparel and lifestyle products, distinguished by our commitment to made-to-order technology. Our core business model revolves around producing precisely what our customers desire, precisely when they desire it. As pioneers in this space, we combine sustainability with on-demand personalization, enabling individuals and businesses to express their unique identities through bespoke creations. Join us to be part of a global leader in the exciting world of personalized apparel and lifestyle products!

As we continue to expand our business, we are seeking a curious and passionate individual to join our team as the Platform Engineer (f/m/d) and drive our business forward.

What Will Your Role Be

In the Platform Engineering team, you will build the next generation of the internal developer platform behind Spread Group's core services - a cloud-native platform on AWS, designed from the ground up. We see our platform as a product and our developers as our customers.

This is a greenfield build with real design freedom: you shape the architecture, the golden paths and the self-service capabilities - not just keep existing systems running. Your platform will serve roughly 175 services from 13 product teams in our European and North American regions. Today they run on more than a dozen Kubernetes clusters with around 280 nodes and 4,000 running pods - migrating them step by step onto the new platform while everything keeps running is a core part of the mission.

What You´ll Do

• Build the next-generation cloud-native platform on AWS - you own the architecture and design decisions from day one
• Design and build platform services, APIs and self-service capabilities that let teams build, deploy and operate their core services end-to-end
• Provide "golden paths": standardized templates, pipelines and building blocks that get teams to production quickly and safely
• Build and evolve the AWS cloud infrastructure with Infrastructure as Code, including Kubernetes and managed services
• Keep the platform secure, reliable and cost-efficient
• Work closely with development teams to understand their needs and continuously improve the developer experience
• Maintain the existing on-premises infrastructure and Kubernetes landscape - keeping all services reliably running while the migration to AWS is underway
• Guide the migration of roughly 175 existing services onto the new platform

What You´ll Bring

• Several years of professional experience (mid-level to senior) in software engineering, ideally in platform engineering, SRE or DevOps - a computer science degree is welcome but not required
• Solid experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
• In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes, Linux and containers
• Strong software engineering skills - you write production-grade code in a language such as Go, Python or TypeScript, building platform services and APIs, not just infrastructure scripts
• Experience designing REST APIs
• Solid Git skills and knowledge of platform services such as CI/CD (e.g., GitLab CI) and observability (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana)
• A product mindset - you see developers as the customers of your work
• Good communication skills in English

Nice to Have

• Experience with GitOps (e.g., Argo CD) and secrets management (e.g., Vault)
• Experience with internal developer portals (e.g., Backstage)
• Experience with messaging systems (e.g., Kafka)

Why Should You Join Us

• Autonomy and Impact: We believe in giving people real ownership. You'll have the freedom to make decisions, take action, and see the direct impact of your work on the business.
• Development and Growth: We believe that the greatest professional and personal growth happens when you're challenged. If you're looking to build your career, you'll find plenty of opportunities to do so.
• We Win as a Team: Work alongside ambitious, motivated colleagues who challenge and support each other to achieve exceptional results. Through honest feedback, high standards, and shared ambition, we bring out the best in one another.
• Learn from Proven Entrepreneurs: Work closely with experienced founders and business leaders, gaining first-hand insights into growing a successful international company.
• Transparency and Involvement: Stay connected to our vision through regular General Assemblies, learn about our processes in our production sites in the Czech Republic and join workshops and cross function initiatives to lead positive change.
• The Extras That Matter: Enjoy 30 days of paid vacation, attractive employee discounts on our products and partner brands, modern office spaces designed for collaboration, and regular company events where we celebrate our successes together.
